ABOUT CHAD SMITH

Assistant Kids Coach

Chad was first exposed to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu while going through the Austin Police Academy in 2015 and saw the practicality Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has with policing.

Chad started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at John’s Gym Austin in April of 2016, the same time as his oldest son (6 at the time). He originally picked up the sport to further his knowledge and increase his chances of working safely. After time passed he realized the many benefits of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Since this time Coach Chad has earned his blue belt. Chad has been training with Coach Nate and Coach Alex since he has started.

The top 3 reasons Chad trains this art is to stay safe at work, to enjoy a martial art with both of his boys who train, and to push himself both mentally and physically in something that has endless lessons to teach on and off the mats. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is as much of, if not more, mental than physical and long-term commitment to it will provide endless benefits.
